In collaboration with officials from Department of Fishery (DoF), refresher ToT training sessions were organized on 5 key practices and soft skills in Satkhira. The USAID Agricultural Extension Support Activity (Ag Extension Project) earlier planned to provide refresher training to the farmer leaders (FLs) in this year. Accordingly, refresher ToT training sessions were organized on 5 key practices and soft skills for a total of 387 farmer leaders. Among them, there were 336 male and 51 female leaders.
These refresher training were completed in 13 batches during January 6-24, 2016. A number of 3 batches of refresher ToTs were organized covering 4 Unions in Satkhira Sadar while another 10 batches were organized covering 10 Unions under Kaliganj Upazila in Satkhira.
The ToT was designed to strengthen five key practices on fish and shrimp farming (carp polyculture and prawn/shrimp culture). It also aimed to strengthen staff capacities on soft skill issues like leadership, collective action and market analysis. As it was a refresher program, participants took part in the evaluation based on their practices which they learned from the basic training.
Senior Upazila Fishery Officer, Assistant Upazila Fishery Officer and Field Assistant were present as resource persons during different sessions.
