The USAID Agricultural Extension Support Activity (Ag Extension Project) facilitated an ACI Animal Health and District Livestock Office jointly organized capacity building event for the private livestock service providers (LSPs) and input retailers. This specialized training course designed for the LSPs was held at the Upazila Livestock Training Room, Satkhira Sadar, Satkhira.

A total of 15 private service providers including 9 retailers, 3 LSPs and 3 artificial inseminator (AI) workers participated in the capacity building sessions on February 24, 2016. Issues covered in the sessions were: breed selection and de-worming, shed management, feed management of dairy and beef cattle, vaccination and disease management, artificial insemination, mastitis control and use of CMT (California Mastitis Test) kits, and use of estrus detector to make success AI and improve rate of conception.

The event was organized to build technical capacities of the input retailers and livestock LSPs to provide quality inputs and services to the livestock farmers and disseminate updated technologies and information among the private livestock service providers.

Dr.  Sashanka Kumar Mondal, District Livestock Officer (DLO), DLS, Satkhira inaugurated the program while Dr. Biplabjit Karmaker, Upazila Livestock Officer (ULO), DLS, Satkhira Sadar, Satkhira acted as its moderator. The event was facilitated by Dr. Md. Aktar Ferdous Rana, Customer Services Officer (CSO), ACI Animal Health, Satkhira.
